Shimizu Corporation was founded in 1804. The company began when Kisuke Shimizu I, who was a carpenter in Etchu or what is now Toyama Prefecture, launched the business in the Kanda Kajicho district of Edo (now Tokyo). From the moment the company was founded, Kisuke Shimizu I aspired to wholeheartedly devote himself to the company’s work and create quality reliable products. Today, Shimizu continually delves deeply into knowledge and technology to meet the needs of its clients and, by extension, society.

Shimizu North America provides Construction Management, Design-Build, Pre-Construction, Engineer-Procurement-Construction, Owner’s representative and General Contracting in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Starting in 1974 in Los Angeles, Shimizu North America has expanded through the United States successfully completing projects in almost every US state. In 2001, we centralized our operations in Atlanta, GA where we continue to manage our North America operations.
In addition to the top rankings Shimizu receives from its customers, the organization has received awards of excellence from the Design Building Institute of America and is recognized by ENR as a top 100 Provider of Design and Construction Services in the United States.
