We have been awarded a contract by the Tanzania Ports Authority to renovate the Port of Kigoma, an inland port located on Lake Tanganyika in the western part of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Kigoma Port plays a vital role as a logistics hub for essential goods and natural resources destined for neighboring countries such as Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Burundi.
Planned as a grant aid initiative by the Japanese government, the project aims to improve the efficiency of passenger transportation functions at Kigoma Port, a critical junction in East Africa’s trade routes. It also marks our first construction project in Tanzania.
The scope of the project includes the development of a passenger wharf (130 meters in length, 50 meters in width, and 5 meters in depth), the construction of a passenger waiting facility (with a total floor area of approximately 1,300 square meters), and the paving of access roads. The construction period is scheduled to span 24 months, from April 2025 to March 2027.

タンザニアにて初めての建設プロジェクト受注
～東アフリカ交易路の結節点・キゴマ港にて旅客埠頭・旅客待合施設を整備～
タンザニア連合共和国のタンザニア港湾公社から、同国西端に位置するタンガニーカ湖に面する内陸港「キゴマ港」の改修工事を受注し、1月22日、請負契約を締結しました。キゴマ港は、タンザニア西部に位置する内陸のタンガニーカ湖に面した港で、ザンビア、コンゴ民主共和国、ブルンジなどの近隣諸国への生活物資や天然資源の物流拠点として重要な役割を担っています。
本工事は、アフリカ大陸東部の交易路の結節点に当たるキゴマ港の旅客輸送機能の効率化を目的に、日本政府の無償資金協力プロジェクトとして計画されたもので、当社がタンザニアで手掛ける初の建設プロジェクトです。
本工事では、旅客埠頭の整備（埠頭延長 130m、幅 50m、水深 5m）、旅客待合施設（延床面積 約1,300m2）の建設、アクセス道路の舗装などを実施し、工期は2025年4月から2027年3月までの24か月間を予定しています。
当社は1967年にアフリカに進出し、これまでに15カ国・95件のプロジェクトに従事してきました。タンザニアは当社にとってアフリカにおける16番目の進出国となります。本工事にて安全で質の高いインフラ工事を実現し、タンザニアでのさらなる業務拡大を目指します。
