THE FIRST EVER SHIMIZU OPEN ACADEMY (SOA) IN BANGLADESH

“To Create a Resilient and Sustainable Society in Bangladesh”, Shimizu Dhaka Office held its first ever Shimizu Open Academy (SOA) at Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), a pioneer in engineering education in Bangladesh on 13th June 2023. The event was supported by the Research and Innovation Centre for Science and Engineering (RISE), BUET.

Around 100 people attended the SOA event from Bangladesh and overseas including speakers, students, faculties, and guests from local construction sector. Mr. Kashiwamura Akira, General Manager, Bangladesh Branch Office inaugurated the event with his opening speech. Both Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor along with Deans and Faculties of BUET were presented in the event.

Opening Session:

Seminar Session 1:

The event featured three interactive sessions by Shimizu Speakers. The first session titled “Green Building” was conducted by Mr. Kazuo Kobayashi, Senior Design Manager, Global Business Headquarters on innovative technology of Shimizu in making Green Buildings around the world.

Seminar Session 2:

The second session was conducted by Dr. Cui Wei, Deputy Director, Global Business Headquarter on “Transformation of Construction Industry, Productivity & BIM”.

Seminar Session 3:

In the last session, Dr. Mohi Ahmed, Executive Officer, Executive Innovator, Business Innovation Unit presented a lecture titled “Infinite Possibilities”.

Closing Session:

It is believed that the event will further strengthen friendly relations between BUET and Shimizu. Shimizu Dhaka office will continue the alliance for exploring Industry-Government-Academia collaboration to make Shimizu as an Exclusive Construction Company in Bangladesh!
